Exercise Is Not Enough

“My holy of holies is the human body; health, intelligence, talent, inspiration, love, and absolute freedom-freedom from violence and falsehood, no matter how the last two manifest themselves.” Anton Chekhov

When we view the statement above and the thoughts of the Apostle Paul on the human body, we can agree that exercise alone, is not enough to qualify for complete fulfillment of a healthy body;
that would include the mind and soul within each individual.

The Apostle Paul clearly believed that there are benefits for the body through exercising, but more is needed to fully benefit the whole person.  Paul stated “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” 1Timothy 4:8 (King James Version)

Spirituality plays an Important Role in Good Health

“Look to your health; and if you have it, praise God, and value it next to a good conscience; for health is the second blessing that we mortals are capable of; a blessing that money cannot buy.”
_Izaak Walton

Health is something that is very valuable and should never be taken for granted.  We should do all that is possible to take good care of our health. And encourage others to do the same. Prayers are always needed for God’s intervention, being that he is the one who designed our body.

In order for a person to be complete and to have a healthy body, a healthy diet, and a healthy mind is needed, along with a good exercising program.  When a person only exercise, eat unhealthy foods, and have no spiritual consciousness they will tire quicker, and their stress level will be higher.

Be blessed in health and happiness.

Protein is one of a class of complex nitrogenous compounds which occurs naturally in plants and animals, and gives amino acids when hydrolyzed. Because of the amino acid, they contain, proteins are essential to growth and tissue repair.

Proteins are a source of heat and energy to the body. They are essential for growth, the building of new tissue, the repair of injured or broken-down tissue, and the repair of the protoplasm of every cell. They are oxidized in the body, thus liberating heat.

Amino Acids are the building blocks of which proteins are constructed, and the end products of protein digestion or hydrolysis. Unused amino acids are converted into urea, the chief nitrogenous constituent of urine and the final product of protein metabolism in the body.

Sources of Protein
Poultry: chicken, duck, goose, and turkey.
Organ Meat: liver, brain, kidney and sweetbread.
Eggs (excellent source of protein)
Fish  (good source of protein)

Corn is used frequently in our diets. It contains  micronutrients, water, fiber, and other substances contained in a food; corn contains 74% of water. 20% of Macronutrients (carbohydrates, fats, and proteins)  0.1% or less of Micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) 5%  Dietary fiber, water and macronutrients form the largest part of most foods. While micronutrients are present in much smaller amounts, Fiber is present in varying degrees in those foods of plant origins.

The Digestive System

The purpose of the digestive system or tract, is to process or break down food for absorption from the intestines into the bloodstream. It also, expels waste products from the body. The digestive system, also called the alimentary canal consists of the mouth, teeth, tongue, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, and large intestines. The accessory glands are salivary glands, liver, and pancreas. They are called accessory glands for their ability to assist other organs in performing their functions, as accessory reproductive organs.

The Anatomy and Physiology of the Body Systems

To put it simple, Anatomy is the structure of the body parts, and Physiology is how each of the body parts function. Let's start with the inner parts of the body, called the systems which are the structure of the body parts, and after which, we will list the function of each system. The body is built like a sophisticated machine that only its creator completely understand its operations. After studying Anatomy and Physiology, I understood clearly what the writer of Psalm 139: 14 meant by his statement as noted below.

"I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."

We can conclude that the body systems are an organized group of organs or cells related to each other. Where as each organ performs a specific or a certain function. Let's begin with the Circulatory System.

The heart is a hollow muscular contractible organ that is the center of the Circulatory System. It is divided into 4 chambers. There are two upper champers with thin walls and two lower chambers with thick walls.
The two upper chambers are called the atria (left and right). The two lower chambers are called ventricles.
The two sides of the heart are separated by a strong muscular wall known as the septum. There are several valves in the heart. They are; Pulmonary, Tricuspid, Mitral, and Aortic. Each valve is lined with a membrane called Endocardium.

The muscle of the heart is called, Myocardium. Inside of this muscle, there are fibers that forms a network of branches called arteries and veins. The Aorta, is the largest artery in the body. It leads from the left ventricle and supplies the body with oxygenated blood.

The Pulmonary artery leads from the right ventricle. It divides into two branches that supply used blood to the right and left lungs.

Inside of the heart is lined with a smooth membrane called the Endocardium.
Pericardium is a tough membrane that is double-layered covering the heart as a bag.
There is a space between the two layers of Pericardium and Endocardium that contains a thin layer of fluid that lubricates and allows free movement of the heart muscle within the outer bag.

Being that the heart works hardest of all the muscles in the body, it has large energy requirements that need  an adequate supply of fresh oxygenated blood to maintain its actions, as all of the muscles in the body do.

The heart has a network of branches which is its own system of arteries, capillaries, and veins exclusively for its own blood supply. This system is call the Coronary. The reason behind the name is due to the arteries surround the upper portion of the heart like a crown. The word "Corona" in Latin mean crown. Both the right and left Coronary arteries arise from the beginning of the Aorta. From that point, smaller branches  pass into the heart. The left artery is divided into two large branches; Right Coronary artery and left Coronary artery.

Information:

1. The heart rate is approximate 70 beats per minute at rest for an adult.
2.  During strenuous exercise, the heart rate can become 200 beats per minute.
3.  The heart contracts about 100,000 times per day and more than 2.5 billion times
       in an average lifetime.
4.  The heart pumps at least 9 pints (4.5 liters) of blood per minute.
5.  The heart pumps about 1,500 gallons (6,000 liters) of blood daily.
6.  The heart generates enough power in a day to drive a truck 20 miles.

The Body Systems:

1. circulatory - circulates body fluids. It includes both cardiovascular
(heart and blood vessels) and the lymphatic systems

 2. digestive - is defined as the Alimentary Canal. This includes the mouth, teeth, tongue,
pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, accessory glands (salivary glands, liver, pancreas)

3. endocrine- ductless glands that produces an internal secretion discharged into the blood
or lymph. It is then circulated into all of  the body parts.

4.  hematopoietic _ has to do with the production and development of  blood cells.

 5.  integumentary- consists of the skin, hair and nails and its appendages.

6.  lymphatic-circulates lymph. It includes lymph vessels, lymphatic organs
(lymph nodes, ducts, tonsils, thymus, spleen)

 7.  muscular- includes all of the muscles (smooth, cardiac, striated, and skeletal)

  8. nervous - consists of the brain, ganglia, spinal cord and nerves

  9.  reproductive-includes the gonads, their structure association and ducts.

 10. respiratory- consists of the air passageway and organs (nasal cavities, oral cavity
pharynx, trachea, and lungs (bronchi, bronchioles, alveolar ducts, and alveoli.

11.  skeletal- The bony framework of the body.

 12.  urinary - Secreting or containing urine.

Obesity in Childhood

What's Really Causing the Childhood Obesity Epidemic?

There are preventative measures that parents can take to prevent childhood obesity. Three things that can be watched closely are, diet, exercise and scheduling. These things should begin when the child is brought home from the hospital. The one thing to keep in mind is every time the baby cries, he or she is not hungry.

Overfeeding is not healthy.  Sticking to a schedule is very important in the early years of childhood, because it prevents snacking in between meals in later years that can lead to overeating. Most family’s meals are Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.

Preventive measures to take to Prevent Childhood Obesity

Diet:
Bread
Cereal
Fruit
Milk & Dairy
Meat (lean meat, poultry, fish)
Vegetables (dark green vegetables, orange vegetables, dry beans, peas, and other nutritionals such as corn and potatoes) Teaching a child to eat in small portions is very important. If they want more after eating the smaller portion, they should be able to have more. Overeating and too many snacks between meals are problems to avoid. A few healthy snacks between meals should be allowed if the child is hungry.

Exercise:
From crib to adult years exercise is very important. When babies are placed on a quilt on the floor, they can move around easier, and have closer contact with the parents and family. This aids in crawling and walking a lot sooner. There are many things parents can do to help their children get the proper exercise they need.

Bicycling
Dancing
Gymnastics
Hockey
Jogging
Jumping rope
Playing balls
Soccer
Swinging
Swimming
Tennis
Tricycle
Walking

Scheduling:

Having a set time for each meal is very important, it prevent snacking before meals that can prevent eating the most important food. If a child is not hungry during the meal because they are filled from snacks, they aren’t going to eat, or if they are encouraged to eat, this will add extra calories and will lead to weight gain.  And it sends a message to the brain to eat, even though the child isn’t hungry, that is carried through teenage years and into adult years.

How we prepare meals and scheduling are examples we set for our children.  Keeping a cookie jar and candy in the house was never something I have done. It was not a traditional thing in my childhood. As parents, we pass much of our cultural traditions to our children. We have to be careful to determine what is good and what is not. I have shared with you the things that have worked for my family and myself, that prevented obesity in our childhood and in our adult years.

Imitation Love: How it Relates To Health

Nakema McKnight
Owner/Instructor at Cut It Up Hair Gallery

True-Lust is an emotion that comes to offset love. It is truly the enemy of Love because it tries to take love's place in your heart. You can be in love with a person, but then another person can come along to try to imitate love and distract you from the real love. That's why God is against adultery, because when you cheat on your spouse, you are really imitating the love you really have, and breaking your commitment to them. And you also hurt them to the point, where you feel that you may not have really been in love with them in the first place.

When you do that, God is angry because he knows that the lust you are feeling is not of his spirit and it will not last, but you may desire to break off your real love because the lust has caused you to doubt it! Lust does not last! Love does! If you act on lust, it will bring forth sin and sin punishes itself in the natural and then punishes eternally in the afterlife.

The enemy has fruits of his own spirit, and lust is one of them. When you are in love with someone, the enemy will come along to break up that love. He is the enemy of love, because he has never loved, and cannot love! He cannot love because love is God and if he loved, it would bring glory to the father of love, GOD! So, he tries to plant his spiritual seeds into your mind and heart by creating lust for forbidden things. But understand, God is not forbidding you to lust or commit sexual perversions because he wants to stop your fun, but God is trying to save your life.

Diseases, murder, loneliness, heartaches, discontentment, low self worth, bitterness, shamefulness, and spiritual death are all consequences of acting on lust. God wants you full of joy and living above all these things. He doesn't want you to grow the fruit of the devils seeds, but he wants you to live according to his promises! So, he defies lust with true love, and when we really love, we will defy lust and follow the real love that we have for one another.

Type 2 Diabetes, is the most common form of diabetes. With this particular form of diabetes, the body either resists the effects of insulin or it doesn't produce enough insulin to maintain a normal glucose level. In other words, the body isn't properly metabolizing the sugar (glucose) that is needed for fuel.

Insulin is a hormone, that regulates the movement of sugar in the cells. In Type 2 Diabetes, the body is either resisting the effects of the insulin or it is simply not producing enough. If this condition is not treated, it can become a life-threatening situation.

Unfortunately, Medical Science have not discovered a cure for Type 2 Diabetes. However, they have provided somethings that can help those who have this condition, to live a healthy life style, if they use them.

Things Those with Type 2 Diabetes Can Do:

1   Get Medical Care
2. Take Diabetes Medication or Insulin
3.  Follow their Food Guide

How to Trust God When All Other Resources Have Failed
There are other related forms of depression noted in this book; Psychosis and Manic. Also, the types of Schizophrenia are discussed. I share an experience with my readers from my early childhood memories, one which shows the connection of stress and suicide in this particular case.
If stress isn't controlled, it can lead to psychological and physical harm.

Autism

Ellen J. Barrier

According to a recent report on autism, there seem to be an increase in the number of cases detected.
" It's not clear whether this is due to better detection and reporting of autism, a real increase in the number of cases, or both,"  the author of the report, informed. There is no cure for autism,  although, early treatment can  help.

Autism is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. It is one of a group of serious developmental problems called autism spectrum disorders or (ASD). Parents who have children with this disorder, can help educate our society regarding symptoms, and how best to care for children with ASD.

In The News: July 4, 2011
Researchers in California suggest environmental factors may play a larger role in triggering autism than was previously thought.

Report 08/13/2011

How to Help Eliminate the Hidden Enemy that Triggers Autism
"A new scientific review reveals there are a host of peer-reviewed, published theories that show possible connections between vaccines and autism. The author of the review, Helen Ratajczak, did something that no one else has apparently bothered to do -- review the complete body of published science since autism was first described in 1943."
